Hi there.

I'm Rebecca Phillips, MS, Licensed Professional Counselor in Frisco & virtually throughout Texas.

I’m Rebecca Phillips, MS, LPC.  (she / her / hers)

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in Frisco, TX, and I’m now offering online therapy virtually throughout the entire state of Texas.

Not only have I spent thousands of hours helping clients through anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship issues, I know those issues firsthand. Your path to healing may not look the same as mine, but I know it’s just as achievable for you. My clients experience profound growth and healing for themselves, too.

Are you my people?

Can you be emotionally complicated? Somewhat sensitive?

Feel like you just don’t stack up despite trying to do everything right?

Are you thriving or merely surviving?

You may feel you’ve already lost years of your life to the vicious cycle of stress, anxiety, feeling checked out, or trying desperately to please others at the expense of your own well-being. But, you can claim a different future.

It’s time to turn the chaos in your mind into calmness, clarity, confidence, and ease.

Specialization

EMDR & therapy for anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship issues.

You probably know all too well that sinking feeling that something terrible is about to happen. Your body constantly feels tense and on edge, or you feel drained and depleted. You feel anxious in relationships and tend to get stressed out by insecurity, sensitivity, people-pleasing, and perfectionistic tendencies.

My clients gain insight into how such ways of being often interconnect with anxiety, depression, and/or trauma. Together, we work to process core issues and navigate current stressors, thought patterns, habits, and relationship issues for comprehensive change. My clients report experiencing more clarity, confidence, and a greater ability to manage stress, anxiety, moods, and relationships.

Objective

My desire is that you are fully seen and welcomed as you are without any judgment or shame. My goal is to meet you where you are and then help you discover and bring forth what you truly want for yourself. Together, we will work to help you gain insight, perspective, relief, and freedom to choose your own path forward.

Education

After graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts and Science in Psychology, I earned a Master of Science in Counseling and Development. I chose the Master’s counseling program at Texas Woman’s University in Denton because TWU is recognized as #1 in Texas for diversity. I am culturally and LGBTQ+ affirmative.

You belong here.

Background

Many of my clients have suffered in silence for too long, afraid of being judged or persuaded to be someone they are not or to do and be as other people thought they “should.” I became a therapist to provide a space for people to be heard and understood without judgment and to find healing, compassion, curiosity, and connection.

You don’t have to do this alone.

I help others gain the insight and awareness needed to understand their personal patterns, engage in deep processing, and map out the changes needed to live authentically and aligned with what they want for themselves.

Let’s create the life you really want to live.

Approach

My approach centers on compassion and cutting-edge science such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I believe therapy should be flexible and multifaceted because people are multifaceted. I use an integrative approach to help my clients explore themselves and their problems from various angles to form a more dynamic perspective. This allows me to choose therapeutic interventions that address each individual’s unique needs.

Working with me..

I am a “gentle challenger” and will confront the ways you turn away from your truth or resist effective change.

When needed, I will kindly call you out and provide a gentle push.

I’m active in the therapeutic process.

I roll my sleeves up and get into the work with you.

I am invested.

I connect deeply with my clients and care for you immensely.

You are invited to bring your whole self into therapy, including the parts you may be most afraid to show.

I will meet you with curiosity, tenderness, and openness.

Our work together can:

  • equip you with practical tools
  • utilize techniques for deep processing
  • bring about insight and awareness
  • assist in direction, decision making, and accountability
  • provide support as you process through what keeps you stuck
  • address the past, present, and future for comprehensive change
  • help design a path forward to help you live your life with more calmness, confidence, and ease

Purpose

“Ours is not the task of fixing the entire world all at once, but of stretching out to mend the part of the world that is within our reach.”

– Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Author of Women Who Run With the Wolves

Process

People are often nervous to begin therapy, which is completely understandable. I do my best to explain the process and guide you while we work together to help you achieve your goals.

Together, we will establish a weekly or biweekly rhythm where we meet to explore the issues you struggle with, what led to their development, and why they’re persisting. We work to identify areas you would like to improve but may be stuck. I help facilitate and engage you in the deep processing necessary to move through the hurt, harm, heartbreak, and pain to find your way forward.

Together, we will work to

  • Develop your individualized plan for therapy
  • Identify and remove the obstacles in your way
  • Address ineffective thought and behavioral patterns
  • Identify and optimize your unique strengths
  • Engage in deep processing of experiences that may keep you stuck
  • Develop tools and resources to make life more manageable
  • Establish more effective coping skills
  • Uncover blind spots or bring about more awareness and insight into yourself
  • Discover new parts of yourself or develop untapped potential
  • Create a plan for you to move forward with more calm, clarity, and confidence

Some weeks may feel refreshing, empowering, and motivating. Other times, especially in the deep processing phase, therapy can feel somewhat draining. Similar to a good workout, it may be hard work, but so worth it.

The healing process of therapy can be intense and heavy but ultimately beautiful, memorable, and wonderfully life-changing.

When we begin to notice significant improvement, we often decide to taper off or begin to phase out of therapy. Clients often request to keep their file open for periodic check-ins or tune-ups should issues arise at a later time. How long a person stays in therapy is based on each individual’s needs and goals. Some people begin therapy hoping it will take a few months and then discover more to explore and understand about themselves and how to improve their lives.

Our work together can help equip you to move forward and show up in your life in a new way – one that is a better fit for you. While we cannot always control the hardships of life, we can choose how we navigate through the challenges that come our way.

Theory

All therapists work from a theoretical framework. The theory I work from is called “Existential Humanism.”

I believe it’s much more valuable to be relational, personable, and real than to do the blank slate thing.  I think it’s important to allow warmth and caring in the therapy room without shame or judgment.

I use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) interventions and EMDR for processing painful life events and problematic thought processes when we need to go deeper.

I am instinctual and immediate in giving feedback. I am also mindful of making the most out of our time together in each session.

My clients often come to therapy in pain and ready for change. My goal is to meet you where you are in your pain, help you find a way through, and design a path forward.

Personality

According to research, the interplay between the client and therapist’s personalities is of utmost importance to a good therapeutic outcome.

Put simply, it’s important to find a therapist you click with.

I thrive on meaningful connections with others and deep conversations. I am insatiably curious and enjoy learning and discovering. I’m an introvert who enjoys the energy of extroverts. I’m down to earth and strive to make therapy casual and comfortable. I can roll with f-bombs and a dark sense of humor. I invite you to bring your fullest self into our work together.
