“There are risks and costs to a program of action. But they are far less than the long-range risks and costs of a comfortable inaction.”

Insurance

Mend Modern Therapy will provide you with the necessary paperwork to seek reimbursement from your insurance company. Read more about why many therapists don’t take insurance here. And learn how to use your insurance for therapy here

HSA, HRA, & FSA

Health Savings Accounts (HSA’s), Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA’s), and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA’s) can be used to cover the cost of therapy and often decrease the cost of treatment significantly.

Tax Benefit

Healthcare services, including psychotherapy, may be exempt from taxes in Texas. You will not need to pay anything on top of the session fee. Furthermore, therapy costs may be written off on your income taxes. It is recommended that you speak with an accounting professional to determine if a deduction would apply to you.

Duration

According to need, availability, and other considerations, we will set up a weekly or biweekly (every other week) schedule. Once significant progress is made, clients often request to phase out of therapy by checking in monthly.  Because I use the evidence-based practices of CBT and EMDR therapy, many of my clients report notable improvement after just a few sessions. Some of my clients complete therapy in just a few months. Many clients determine there is more they want to explore and understand about themselves and their lives, and choose to stay longer.

When clients have timing and financial flexibility, it is ideal to meet once a week as we begin our work together. This frequency creates a nice rhythm of allowing processing between the last session and ensuring things are still fresh for the next. If starting once per week isn’t feasible due to financial or time constraints, it is  recommended to meet biweekly and then move to once per month. Some therapy is better than none.

Good Faith Estimate for EMDR or Therapy Services

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining the cost of your medical care / therapy.  Health care providers are legally obligated to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical services.

• You may ask your health care provider for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate in writing 1 business day before your medical service for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

• Be sure to save a copy of your Good Faith Estimate. You may dispute any bill you receive that is more than $400 above your Good Faith Estimate.

•For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.
